1st morning home

Tracy woke up a little dizzy this morning. we surmise that it is probably more a light-headedness due to her laying in a more prone position than a reclined position on the hospital bed. She is also really tired. She slept another 3 or 4 hours after getting up this morning and is feeling a little weak. We got up once last night for bathroom and medicine duty around 3 a.m. and then Tracy talked for a while about this experience. She has eaten a couple of times this morning and that seems to help for a little while. She is feeling things a little more intensely. That is a good thing in spite of the fact that it is discomfort and pain. Whereas, at the the hospital she would say her head was numb, now she says the whole thing feels bruised. She felt achy this morning all over. Her head, neck, arms and back are all kind of sore. At the moment she is resting in the chair in the living room with lights out and blinds drawn up (kind of sensitive to light; it's just intense). The ceiling fan is circulating quietly and the air conditioner is on. She is listening to soft Christian music on the big Ipod speaker system Troy gave her. It is very nice. I hope she is relaxing - seems to be.

Now all you house ladies and metro-males. Lord have mercy, I have gotten Bethany to school, made two breakfasts, made three beds, washed and folded 4 loads of clothes, taken care of
Tracy's needs at different times in the morning, cleaned up the kitchen, worked on Bethany's closet, and the whole time I'm thinking, "I'm tired and I want to take a nap"! The afternoon, I think is relegated to bill paying and managing mail and house stuff. Going back to work might just be a vacation. (Kind of teasin', but there is not a lot of sit down time.)

I look forward to your calls. You guys are somethin' else.

Jeff

As I read this blog entry the thought came to my mind that now the healing process is really beginning. Like, after going to the dentist the numbness begins to wear off and your mouth is kinda sore. Well, Tracy I know that this is a bit worse than any trip to the dentist, but I know that God will continue to hold you in his loving arms and make you so comfortable. Maybe more like cozy, snug.

Jeff,
Here's what the experts tell the moms: "Sleep when the baby sleeps."

Tracy's your baby.

Tracy,
Recovery is so hard, but tomorrow will be better than today and so on. That's a great thing to look forward to, isn't it? Tomorrow you won't hurt like today. Each day you wake up, you get to feel better. That's comforting and hopeful. I'm so glad you are getting better. You're only moving forward--getting the bad feelings behind you!

Yeah right. Some experts. What do they know. You'd never get anything done if you slept when the baby slept. Although, it is nice to lie down with the baby unless you feel you don't have time to lie down.

Here's another good "new mom" tip for you, Jeff: keep a full sink of soapy water and just drop the dirty dishes in the sink. That way when people drop by, you can say you were just doing the dishes. And when you finally do get around to it, (after you & the baby nap) the dishes will have soaked themselves clean.

For some reason I kept thinking about what people would say as to who was the better dancer between Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The answer was that Ginger did everything Fred did, but backwards and wearing high heels! This appreciation for women will just make you an even more awesome man!

On a serious note, what are the doctors saying about Tracy's facial paralysis? Do they expect that to improve?. Is she able to keep her mouth closed when she eats, or is there great difficulty?

Yep, now there's the Jeff I know. Going WAAAY out of his way to make friends with all the "women in the house". Don't let 'em see ya sweat, Jeff, just don't let 'em see ya sweat.

Tracy, are you taking notes on all of the household chores Jeff has taken on? Might come in handy down the road!!!

Get rest girlfriend.
